Michael Rivers is a dedicated and highly experienced family law attorney whose diverse professional background provides a distinct advantage to clients navigating divorce, parenting disputes, and related family-law matters throughout Western Washington. Known for his practical approach, strong advocacy, and clear communication, Michael has built a reputation as a trusted guide for clients facing some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
With decades of legal practice, Michael brings seasoned judgment and a comprehensive understanding of the family-court system. He has extensive experience in litigation, mediation, and negotiated settlement, and is equally effective in the courtroom and the conference room. Before focusing his practice exclusively on family law, Michael also gained valuable experience in estate planning, which strengthens his ability to advise clients on long-term financial considerations, asset preservation, and the broader implications of divorce on their future planning.
His financial training enhances his ability to analyze complex asset-division issues, evaluate support obligations, and provide clients with clear strategies for protecting their financial stability.
“Family law allows me to help clients invest in their futures during an incredibly stressful period,” Michael explains. “Whether I am steering them away from well-intended but harmful advice, applying my financial background to preserve their assets, or helping them adjust to the realities of co-parenting, my goal is always to prepare them for the next phase of their lives.”
Michael earned his Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating cum laude with dual majors in Accounting and Financial Analysis. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law, where he began developing the analytical and advocacy skills that define his practice today.
Outside the office, Michael enjoys restoring and improving his “new” old home, traveling with his fiancée, cooking and baking, and working on his golf game.
